About

Posted by Kathy On October - 3 - 2007

My name is Kathy. I’m a freelance writer and I own a marketing company, Aniza Marketing. I live with my adorable husband and two beautiful daughters and our days are filled with work, training, play dates, gymnastics, the park and mommy and me classes.

I ran my first marathon on February 3, 2008, just one day before I turned 38. I had always wanted to do this before my 40th. I ran my second, Disney, in January of 2009. During the marathon I injured my ITB, so I’m slowly recovering. I want to run a third marathon in early fall, and I’d be interested in getting involved in triathlons.

This blog chronicles my training while taking care of my family while also running business. My schedule is hectic. I often rise around 5, lace up my sneakers for my runs, workout when I return and then take care of the kids during the day. I work on my company during naptime, and then it is off to do something else until it is time to prepare dinner. I then work until midnight many nights, falling into bed with a heavy thud and then rising five hours later to start another day.

I am tired, but it is the happiest time of my life.

I currently write for Allbusiness.com.

I also do photography, web design, logo design and print work for a variety of clients. You can view the other work part of my life at Aniza Marketing.

Run along with me on my journey to the finish line! If you are preparing to race as well, please leave comments and let me know how you are doing!

Hi Kathy. I just wanted to let you know that I am so happy to have found your blog. I am a late 30-something mom of two. I stay home with my boys and telecommute, mostly working during naptime and evenings. I have run 2 marathons and am training for my third in the spring. I have had ITB troubles as well. Our paths seem very similar!

I look forward to following you in your journey and will try to comment from time to time. Thanks for putting your thoughts out there.

    Greetings. I like your page.
I am beginning running again after falling off for a few months, almost a year. I have a mechanical aorta valve and have ran one half marathon before surgery aand one/half a month after the surgery. I want to get back to completing another half marathon.
Is it fun to make a living being a freelance writer? How do you make money doing that?

LOL I wouldn’t say I’m blazing any financial trails as the freelancing goes. I do better with web design, but I enjoy writing and it clears my head. Plus it brings in a few extra dollars from time to time! That’s amazing about the surgery and running – good for you!
