About

My name is Kathy. I’m a freelance writer with two beautiful kids, one hyper ass dog and a husband I adore.

I began running 15 years ago. My husband handed me his beeper (yep, we’re old) and said, “Go as far as you can without stopping.” I did about five minutes and thought I might puke. He signed us up for a 5K and I cursed his ass everytime I got out there to run, pledging that after I finished that 3.1 miles I was done running for good.

Something happened during that race, though. I don’t know if it was the cheering crowd or the feeling of accomplishment, but I fell in love with running on that day and have been going ever since.

I ran my first marathon on February 3, 2008, just one day before I turned 38.  I ran my second, Disney, in January of 2009. I’ve completed numerous halfs, 10Ks and 5Ks, and this year competed in my first sprint triathlon. I love all things active. I also love Nutella and peanut butter, especially when eaten together.

I am currently finishing writing my first novel, teaching my daughters to sew and exploring the world on My Mighty Schwinn.

My motto: It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. Ride – or run – along with me to the finish line; but remember to have fun along the way!
